MARCOS
From

MARCOS(Marine commandos) is a special force unit of Indian Navy. MARCOS is responsible for special operations. The MARCOS training is one of the toughest military training in the world. Trainee have to undergo toughest courses that can last between two and half to three years depending on the specialization. 80% of the applicants will be screened out during the initial stage of the training. The MARCOS has done very few special operations. During the kargil war the MARCOS tasked to undertake corvette operations behind enemy lines. “Even the terrorist in kashmir are scared of the MARCOS and refer to them as Dadhiwala faujfauj”.
PARA COMMANDOS

Para commando(special force) also known as the para SF, is the special operation unit of the Indian Army. Para SF was established in 1966 and attached to the parachute regiment in the year 1996.The size of the para SF is 9 battalions. The parachute regiment is tasked with missions such as hostage rescue, counter terrorism, unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance, foreign internal defence, etc,.Important missions Indo-pak war (1971), Operation Pawan in sri Lanka (1980), Operation Cactus in Maldives (1988), kargil etc,.
GHATAK

- ROLE – Reconnaissance, target acquisition
Ghatak is a sanskrit word means “Killer or lethal”.Ghatak is a specialized elite infantry platoons. The primary role and purpose is to be heavily armed spearheads in case of a operation or a conflict. They can undertake direct raids on enemy artillery position air field, supply dumps and head quarters. The are trained in heliborne assault, mountain warfare, rock climbing, demolition close quarter battles. Ghatak commando is armed with INSAS Assault rifle, AKM, M4 carbine etc,.
COBRA

- MOTTO – “Victory for gallant in war”
- HEAD QUARTERS- New Delhi
- PARENT AGENCY – CRPF
COBRA( commando battalion for resolute action). COBRA commandos are specialized in guerrilla warfare. The cobra does operations based only on intelligence input and has been raised as a team of highly trained commandos who neutralize the enemy and destroy their hideout. COBRA was raised in the year 2009 . COBRA is a branch of CRPF(Central reserved police force) for tackling violence prepared by NAXALITIES.
FORCE ONE
Force one is a specialized counter terrorism unit of Mumbai police to guard the metropolitan city. The force one was formed after the mumbai terrorist attack on 2008 . To ensure the internal security the FORCE ONE was formed. IPS commando known as force one, which is a elite commando force was set up on the line of NSG.Force one’s general duties are to parachute onto ground, conducting close quarter battle.
SPECIAL FRONTIER FORCE

- NICKNAMES – “Phantoms of Chittagong’

Special frontier force preventing Chinese occupation in the line of actual control (LAC) in ladakh. Special frontier force was raised by the Intelligence bureau IB. Special frontier force is also known as VIKAS BATTALION. Special frontier force units are not under army but function under it’s operational control have their own rank structure of equivalent status with army ranks. Special frontier force training takes place under the india’s RAW. Notable missions were operation Blue star, kargil etc,. In 1971the SPECIAL FRONTIER FORCE operated in Chittagong hills track to neutralise Pakistan Army position and helped the Indian army. A large number of them received the bravery awards.
NATIONAL SECURITY GUARD

NSG was formed on 1986 . The National security guard is india’s premier counter-terrorist force. The NSG provides security to vip’s, conducts anti-sabotage checks, and is responsible for neutralizing terrorist threats to vital installations. The NSG is divided into special action group, special Ranger group, special composite group, Electronic support group, National bomb data centre. The special operation done by NSG were operation Black thunder, ashwamedh, combat mission in jammu &kashmir, vajra shakti, black tornado.
GARUD COMMANDO

- HEAD QUARTERS- Ghaziabad
- BRANCH – AIR FORCE
Garud commando is a unit of Indian air force formed in the year 2004. Garud is entrusted with the duty of protecting critical Air Force bases. The important duties assigned to garud was search and rescue during peace and hostilities, disaster relief during calamities. Operational deployment 2013 chhattisgarh helicopter shot down, 2016 pathankot attack etc,. The training for being a garud is longer among all the special forces of India.
SPECIAL PROTECTION GROUP

The Special protection group is a special operation force whose objective is providing proximate security to prime minister of India and to their family members.They have to gather intelligence , assess threats and provide protection. Their track record had been impeccable after the rajiv gandhi assassination and no attack have been carried out on any prime minister ever since.
The special forces were plays a important role in the internal security and other foreign internal security. Every Armed Forces has a unique special forces. India ranks on the top 10 military powered countries of the world. India 14 lakh active troops in the military.
